Because I have been reading FAR too many freebie and fashion blogs (my inventory is groaning under the weight!) I feel strangely compelled to tell you what I am wearing on the grid today:

Skin:
[]::Tuli::[] Emily [light/1] ~ coal (freckled) (group gift). One major thing I've noticed since resuming my second life is that there are a lot more good quality freebie or dollarbie skins than when I was a newbie, or maybe there are just more blogs to tell us where they are ;) This skin is lovely and summery, and I know you can't see the freckles on this pic but they're great nonetheless.
Hair:
* 0 Style * fog * Newbie Hair in black. I'm wearing a lot of shorter hair lately and I felt this had a kind of sixties mod feel to complement the dress.
Dress:
*Love Aya* retrospective two-piece (free). I tinted the white belt to match my ears and popped a purple system turtleneck on the underwear layer.
Boots:
Umi Usagi. These white ones were a seasonal edition which I
think I got for L$50 or thereabouts. I couldn't find them in the main store but you can buy them in black or brown suede for L$100, or hang around and hope the lucky chair comes good. I love my bunneh boots!
Tights:
+SPICA+ (free).
Ears: Umi Usagi (free). Yes, OK, I love this shop. It makes me a happy bunny.
Nails:
.:to heart:. (free) There is a fun goth/vampire skin freebie as well and the normal skins are L$25 for a set of five makeups.
Bracelet:
Fresh Baked Goods *VELVET* SIM Launch Gift (free)
(You can't see my tail, but I can't remember where I got it from anyway. It's one of those full-copy Linden-produced objects you find in freebie boxes everywhere.)

Well I entered the
Face of Style contest, even though they demanded a profile pic and my nose is not the best. (Hey, I'm not changing it. It may not be perfect, but it's
mine.)

I actually did buy more than one thing in the Last Call sale, it's just that the pics I took wearing the other outfit didn't come out as well:

But that's not today's big news. I'm renting a house!

It's a L$150 for 150-prims job, so my only major piece of furniture is a bed, but it's nice to have a place of my own to get changed and mess about with prims. I picked up a box of free sculptie textures and have been playing with them. Sculpties are just fantastic if you're living on a low-prim parcel, and luckily I have a fair few free textures to apply to them too:

There was a heart shape in there so I made a pair of earrings, and took the picture in the dark so you could see them glow.

Oh my god, I made something I might actually wear! Night night.

Let’s see, what have I been up to? Well, I completed my Free Hair Odyssey with the treasure hunt on Taunt island, successfully locating all the tikis:

I also found two golden orbs at Nuclear Boutique’s party, and thanks to a tipoff from Teagan joined the Bewitched update group, so the Free Hair Odyssey continues!
In other news, I learned how to resize and recolour prims. Now, I am a lazy girl, so this is enough to keep me happy for a while. Pretty much the only content I ever made for Sims 2 was recolours. I dyed one of my dresses pink and trotted off to a sock hop at Solaris. Observe my Amazing Static Ponytail:

Oh, and I caught the tail-end of a live music festival, which was pretty good. This woman was playing an acoustic set with some of my favourite songs:

SecondFest kicks off tomorrow so I am looking forward to that, assuming I can get onto the sim
PayPal payments are working again so I was finally able to buy some L$$$ and can take some time off from the dancepads

Well, the day before yesterday I was mooching around on my unending quest for freebie shit, when an IM pops up from Skybox Guy, asking if I want to do some modelling. And! I get to keep the clothes

Not my favourite skin nowadays (too fond of my SinSkins freebies) but it was the one I was wearing when he initially picked me up so I thought I’d best give him what he expected
Turned out we had to reshoot anyway the following day because the pics didn’t come out so good:

There are three pairs of jeans, the seams aren’t perfect but he’s only asking L$75 per pair so who cares?
Guess what I got in the way of payment the second time?

That would be a boat, people. Hmm, do you think I could sail it out to sea and live in it?

I’m still working my way through the Newbie Hair List and oh, what a wonder it is.

There’s so many free and almost-free styles out there, I wonder why I even bother to camp
I sat down in a sandbox yesterday, trying on and tinting stuff, and finally got everything organised into a big folder so now I have a much better idea of what I have. I revisited Free Dove and found another newbie hair voucher, this one from Tami McCoy:

It’s for residents under 30 days so I just squeezed in under the wire (I’m 28 days old today
)
This afternoon, I have been sitting in a camping chair sorting out my wings and shoes. I’m doing the easy stuff before I tackle the multitude of logo tees and ballgowns.
Also yesterday, I made an outfit out of those textures I didn’t like, plus a freebie belt resized and retextured:

I don’t think I’m going to set the fashion world alight, but it’ll do for… actually, I’m not sure what it’ll do for. Dishcloths?

Yesterday, InPulz (where I do a lot of dancing and am now a VIP
) had a Suits and Gowns party, which was a great chance to show off one of my freebie ballgowns:

My boobs are not normally this size, you understand. But I have a confession to make. You know how I said I wasn’t going to have any more meaningless sex? I lied. I hooked up with one guy who took me to his skybox to play with his new lo-cost bed, and just this minute I escaped from another one who — get this — was doing me in a shop. I swear, I’m not lying. He teleported me out of the club into a deserted outlet selling poseballs and was moving us round the demos. I could see we had some way to go till the end so I told him I needed to go and eat. The relative classiness of the skybox with the roaring fire just spoiled me, I fear.
Also, I charged him L$10 to see me naked, so I guess that makes me officially a whore. And a really cheap whore, at that.
The only explanation I can offer is that SL is really a very lonely place if you don’t know anybody. There are clubs and casinos full of silent campers, and there are beautiful places with nobody in them, and it’s hard to find interesting events in my timezone. If you head for a pickup joint in balloon-boobs and very little clothing at least somebody’s going to talk to you. It’s probably the same reason why people sleep around in their first life; for the attention.
It would be such easy money, that’s the awful thing. Dancing round a pole and turning tricks on the side. Even though the honorable thing would be to go to a bunch of classes and learn how to create stuff. I’ve never done any 3D modelling but I’m not bad with Photoshop. But then, I’d still need money to upload textures and rent a shop. And even though the sploder was good to me at the party last night, gambling is not a reliable source of income.
I think I need to start thinking about why I’m actually here and what my priorities really are. It could be that there isn’t anything in SL for me other than clubbing and clothes, in which case I might as well go back to playing Sims 2

Another day, another pair of butterfly wings:

The changing rooms at NCI Beach have become a regular hangout for me, in the absence of a home and all
Today, I thought I’d take a look at Chi. Pretty place, but suffers from the usual SL malady of being almost totally deserted:

I ended up teleporting to a lovely meditation garden where I had a random conversation with the owner about Milton Keynes and the American War of Independence:

Doing my usual round of the clubs tonight, I won L$20 (net gain L$10) on the slot machine I had to play to get access to the camping chair in front of it. Which to a poverty-striken tramp like me is a decent amount. Don’t let me ever play them again
I look like a tramp right now in both senses of the word. I was looking for an outfit that might justify the tights, but nothing in the world could justify these tights.
